Romeo Lavia fires Cole Palmer eight-word Chelsea message after Everton masterclass

Romeo Lavia was quick to heap praise on Cole Palmer during Chelsea's emphatic win over Everton

Cole Palmer put four past Jordan Pickford on Tuesday night

Romeo Lavia fired Cole Palmer a message on social media during Chelsea's clash against Everton. The 21-year-old midfielder netted four against Sean Dyche's side at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening, leading the Blues to a 6-0 win.

Inside the opening quarter of an hour, Palmer slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford after a one-two with Nicolas Jackson carved open Sean Dyche's backline. Moments later, the former Manchester City ace reacted quickest, nodding the ball into an empty net.

The Everton goalkeeper parried a shot into the heart of the six-yard box, and Palmer pounced to double the west London outfit's lead. Pickford was at fault again for the third, which completed his 'perfect' hat-trick – he intercepted a loose pass into Amadou Onana and lobbed his fellow countryman from 40 yards on his weaker right foot.

Palmer later added to his tally from 12 yards despite Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson's best efforts to assume responsibility. The England international certainly impressed against Everton and Lavia showed his support on social media.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, after Palmer scored his second of the game, the former Southampton midfielder wrote: "[two crying with laughter emojis and a blue heart emoji] This is getting stupid now! MR COLD PALMER."

Then, after he completed his hat-trick just minutes later, Lavia was left speechless and simply posted an ellipsis. Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show, Jamie Carragher heaped praise on Palmer for his performance.

"They were brilliant and one man that has been brilliant all season is Cole Palmer," said the former Liverpool defender. "The rest of them raised their game to the level he has shown right since the day he joined the club.

"When you get a result like that, should we be praising the team who have won, or should be heavily criticising the team who have lost. When you are involved in a game, certainly when you lose 6-0, there is a lot for you to look at and point fingers at. No one should be losing 6-0, they never went down to 10 men."
