Despite their derby defeat, Arsenal found themselves the subject of a cheeky jibe from Tottenham Hotspur at the conclusion of Sunday's fierce clash.

The Gunners have been in fine form this season and dominated Ange Postecoglou's side in the capital. Arsenal took an early lead 15 minutes into the match when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg inadvertently turned Bukayo Saka's corner into his own net.

Saka then added to the scoreline with a superb finish just before the half-hour mark. The visitors effectively sealed the game with seven minutes left in the first half as Kai Havertz nodded in Declan Rice's corner.

Tottenham showed signs of improvement after the break and were handed a lifeline when David Raya's clearance went straight to Cristian Romero, who promptly fired the ball past the Spanish goalkeeper. Son Heung-min then converted a brilliant penalty into the top corner with three minutes left, setting up a tense ending.

However, Arsenal held on to finish the day one point ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table, although City do have a game in hand. Post-match, Spurs chose to play the Editors' hit song Munich over their sound system as soon as the final whistle had blown, a clear reference to Arsenal's recent Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Tottenham Hotspur missed the opportunity to improve their chances of finishing in the coveted Champions League qualification spot with the defeat. However, they did manage to have the last laugh over their North London rivals Arsenal by playing a cheeky reminder of their European shortcoming.

Arsenal managed a 2-2 draw against Bayern at the Emirates Stadium during the first leg of their quarter-final clash but fell short in the return leg in Germany with a 1-0 defeat. The choice of music blaring from the speakers at Tottenham's stadium could have certainly hit a sour note with the Arsenal fans present.
