Erik ten Hag is reportedly the favourite for a huge job if his Manchester United career comes to an end.

During his first season in charge at Old Trafford, Ten Hag did a decent job as he secured Champions League qualification and also won the Carabao Cup.

After signing the likes of Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund in the summer transfer window, many expected United to challenge right at the top of the Premier League.

However, the 23/24 season has been one to forget for Ten Hag as his men have failed to perform to the expected levels.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 13 points off fourth-placed Aston Villa.

In Europe, their Champions League dream turned into a nightmare when they finished bottom of their group behind Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray.

As a result, Ten Hag is now under huge pressure with new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly looking for a new manager.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has been linked with a new job amid uncertainties over his future in Manchester.

As reported by The Standard, the Dutchman is on a three-man shortlist to become the new manager of Eredivisie side Ajax.

It is believed that Ten Hag, along with Chelsea boss Graham Potter and Nice’s Francesco Farioli are the ones Ajax are targetting as their new manager.

Ahead of United’s match against Burnley, Ten Hag said: “I think we can't afford this [complacency] with any opponent.

“With the team we have available and we have to creative in order to get a line up out. In the position where we are, we have to take every opponent with 100 per cent focus. We cannot allow to do a little bit less.”

He added: “They play high intensity football. They changed a little bit their approach during the season, I think now they are in survival mode and they do pretty well.”
