The 2023/24 season is slowly coming to a tame end for Liverpool, as concentration now shifts to a huge summer for the club. The Reds will be preparing for the arrival of new boss Arne Slot and the possible additions he will make to the squad.

After securing the Carabao Cup earlier in the year, the minds of the Liverpool fanbase drifted to dreams of a historic quadruple to mark Jürgen Klopp's departure in style. Sadly, exits in the FA Cup and Europa League - as well as a drop in form within the Premier League - have ended all hopes of more silverware before the German's reign is over.

Regardless, Liverpool can attempt to end the current campaign on a high across the final games against Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Although, the former will likely put up quite the fight, as Unai Emery's side looks to secure Champions League football.

Following the conclusion of the season, rivals across world football will likely be paying close attention to the ongoings at Anfield ahead of a new era at the club. Here, Liverpool.com takes a scan around the Premier League and across the continent to see what's going on at these clubs.

Man Utd star 'in talks' over Cristiano Ronaldo reunion

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is 'in talks' regarding a move to the Saudi Pro League, according to TEAMtalk. The Brazilian defender featured in the recent 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday evening, in a performance to forget for the former Real Madrid man.

The 32-year-old is one of the top earners at Old Trafford - with new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe eager for an overhaul of the squad this summer. United is now looking for a potential buyer for the midfielder, which has since opened the door for a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East.

Casemiro was 'offered' to Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in January but the report goes on to claim that he is now a target for the entire Saudi Pro League ahead of the summer. Talks have already begun with executives in the Gulf state, regarding which club suits Casemiro best. Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal are listed as the other frontrunners for his signature.

Liverpool.com says: Casemiro has looked a step off the pace at the highest level this season. If United can get his deal off the books, it will allow the Red Devils to reinvest in other areas of the squad. Liverpool should monitor this carefully as United could pose a threat to them shortly.

Chelsea 'open talks' for top Liverpool target

Chelsea is looking to spend big again this summer following a disappointing 2023/24 campaign. The Blues have reportedly 'opened talks' with Shakhtar Donetsk for midfielder Heorhiy Sudakov, according to the Daily Mail.

The deal would cost around $81million (£65m/€75m), which arrives after they have already spent big on the midfield by bringing players such as World Cup winner Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo to Stamford Bridge. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in the Ukranian midfielder - who has scored eight goals for club and country this season.

Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin was present to watch Chelsea in action against Everton, a game which ended 6-0 to the hosts, before holding talks with the club regarding Sudakov. "This summer window, he has a big chance to move to some big clubs," Palkin said.

"We have had some contacts with big clubs and some are not negotiating with us directly but are getting a feel for the summer environment. He will definitely move to a top European club this summer. When I was at Chelsea versus Everton, many people asked me about Sudakov."

Liverpool.com says: Sudakov is said to have a $156m (£125m/€145m) release clause in his latest contract, which runs until 2028. However, Shakhtar would be willing to part ways with a figure much lower than this - such as the $81m previously mentioned. Liverpool invested well within the midfield last summer but still needs one or two extra bodies, especially when considering Thiago Alcântara will be leaving this summer. Whether or not the club will pursue a move for Sudakov, remains to be seen.
