FC Bayern will host FC Arsenal in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday evening. Thomas Tuchel’s team have put themselves in a good starting position with the 2-2 draw in London – a look at the statistics confirms this.

On Wednesday, FC Bayern will be looking to preserve their last remaining chance of winning the title. A win against FC Arsenal would mean a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League, where the Munich side would then face either Real Madrid or Manchester City.

The German record champions‘ particular strength at home is also reflected in these two statistics: FCB have not lost a single one of their last 14 home matches in the top flight (eleven wins, three draws). The last defeat at the Allianz Arena was against Paris in 2021. In general, only PSG, Real and Liverpool FC have won in Munich in the last 10 years.

Bayern have also failed to score in just one of their last 28 home CL matches. Only in the group stage of the current Champions League season was there a 0-0 draw against Copenhagen.

Arsenal with bad memories of Munich

The Gunners‘ previous trips to Munich have mostly been disappointing. FC Bayern have won four of their six home games, plus one draw and one win for the London club – but the 2-0 defeat in March 2013 had no consequences, as Bayern still progressed to the next round thanks to a good first-leg result and celebrated the first treble in the club’s history a few weeks later.

Arsenal also suffered the two heaviest away defeats in the club’s European Cup history at the Allianz Arena. FCB won 5-1 in both November 2015 and February 2017, and these two matches are also the only two international away games in which Arsenal have conceded five goals.
