Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool’s draw with West Ham on Saturday gives Arsenal and Manchester City an unassailable Premier League title race advantage.

The Reds sit two points behind table-toppers Arsenal having played a game more, after winning just one of their last four league outings. The Gunners could open up a five-point gap over Liverpool with a win over Tottenham in Sunday’s crunch North London Derby.

Meanwhile, Man City have played two games fewer than Liverpool and remain a point ahead of them, while Arsenal stay above the Blues by a point having played a match more. With three fixtures of his Liverpool career remaining, Klopp says his team’s title chase is all but over.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw with West Ham at the London Stadium, he said: “So, I said before, we need to win our games. We didn’t win the game. That doesn’t improve our situation now massively.

“Do they [Manchester City and Arsenal] look like they will lose two or three games? No, I don’t think so but, honestly, I’m not angry or whatever… I don’t think about it.

“It’s just we have to win football games and let’s see what that means in the end. What do we have now? 75 points? 84 [are] possible and I think it is a good target to try to do that.

“That is what will be my attitude, my mindset and we will see what that means. It’s a while ago somebody became champion with 84 points I think, long ago. I am sorry, but I don’t have better news for you.”

Arsenal face a tricky test against Spurs on Sunday, despite their recent 4-0 defeat to Newcastle. The Whites have not lost at home in the league since February and have been defeated at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just once in their last nine matches.

Elsewhere, Man City take on Nottingham Forest away from home in the first of their final five matches. Speaking ahead of the weekend, Mikel Arteta was in a relaxed mood.

On the title race, he said: “We have to look at ourselves and perform the best possible way and win our matches and wait to see what happens.”
