TNT Sports commentator Adam Summerton was stunned after a ‘shocking’ moment in the final minutes of Arsenal’s defeat at Bayern Munich tonight.

Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League after a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

The Gunners lost 3-2 on aggregate thanks to a Joshua Kimmich header and it’s fair to say that Mikel Arteta’s side can have no complaints about the result.

Barring Gabriel Martinelli wasting a decent chance in the first half, Arsenal never really laid a glove on the German giants.

Much like Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa, Bayern stepped things up after the break and the Gunners had no answers.

But there was a moment in the final minutes of the game which left Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard furious.

Odegaard raced through down the right-hand side in the final minutes of the game and was able to test Manuel Neuer at his near post.

The Norwegian took a deflection off a Bayern defender before Neuer turned the ball past his goal.

Despite the obvious save from the goalkeeper, the linesman awarded Bayern a goal-kick.

And it’s fair to say the decision left both Ally McCoist and Adam Summerton baffled on TNT Sports

“He’s not seen it,” McCoist said. “That’s a poor decision, really poor. Neuer gets a left hand on it, we can see it from here and if we can see it, so should the linesman.

“It’s a deflection as well. It’s two corners. Honestly. And he’s looking at it, it comes off the defender and the goalkeeper.”

Summerton added: “That really is quite shocking. And a set piece to defend with two minutes to go. Wow. I mean once, but to miss two!”

Arsenal suffer disappointing Champions League exit

Despite an exceptional season for Arteta’s men so far, they will be disappointed with their display at Bayern tonight.

Arsenal barely threatened the Bundesliga giants and created just 1.95 xG over the two legs.

While tonight will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Gunners, Arteta will have to pick his squad up quickly ahead of some crucial games in the Premier League.
