'Don't get it twisted' - Emmanuel Adebayor unimpressed by Arsenal player as title verdict given

Arsenal remain in a battle with Manchester City for the Premier League title

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted he is "not a big fan" of Kai Havertz.

Havertz has split opinion during his debut campaign with the Gunners, with some supporters appreciative of the German's versatile nature and others lamenting his lack of cutting edge in the final third.

The 24-year-old was on target during Sunday's North London Derby win at Tottenham Hotspur, having scored a brace against Chelsea just five days earlier.

While Havertz may not be the most prolific player in the division, his ability to make a difference at key times in matches has become increasingly apparent as the season has progressed.

Still not impressed by the former Chelsea star, however, Adebayor told Premier League Productions: "He has adapted well, but I am not a big fan of the player.

"He isn’t that strong and when you are playing up front for a team like Arsenal. First and foremost, you have to be strong and you have to be clever. He’s a very good player with the feet.

"Football is a game, whenever you score, you are the hero and when you don’t score, then you are the villain. If he doesn’t score and Arsenal ends up losing, then the fans won’t be happy about it. But if he manages to score a goal and get a win for his team, as he is doing at the end of the season for his team, then he will be the hero."

As well as being undecided on Havertz, Adebayor is also unsure whether or not Arsenal will prevail as Premier League champions in the coming weeks.

Asked to predict whether Mikel Arteta's side are likely to win their remaining fixtures against Bournemouth, Manchester United and Everton, the 40-year-old remarked: "With Arsenal, anything is possible. We all know how good they can play and this team is very humble and talented. If you ask me now if I am sure they are going to get nine points out of nine, I am not sure. With them, anything can happen.

"We saw it a couple of weeks ago against Aston Villa and we all thought they would win that game. If you ask me if I think Man City can win the next 20 games, I would tell you with confidence: yes. Don't get it twisted, Arsenal are looking better and stronger and they have gained experience. They have the personality and character."
