According to Italian broadcaster Rai, Napoli appear to have finally landed their top managerial target, Antonio Conte. The report suggests a three-year contract is on the table for the experienced coach, who is reportedly eager to put pen to paper.
While financial details haven’t been officially confirmed, Rai’s transfer expert Ciro Venerato claims the agreement could see Conte earn around €6.5 million per season. The final hurdle seems to be Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis’s signature to make the deal official.
This comes after a coaching carousel at Napoli this season. Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri, and currently Francesco Calzona have all had turns at the helm. Napoli also considered Vincenzo Italiano and Stefano Pioli, but Conte remained their number one choice despite the wait.
The former Italian national team manager has reportedly been carefully evaluating his options since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in a dramatic exit midway through last season. Conte is known for his winning pedigree, having secured league titles with Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Juventus before his stint in England.
