Man United's 'Wembley' tweet IMMEDIATELY after rivals City lose on penalties to Real Madrid has fans in stitches as the Red Devils prepare for FA Cup semi-final with Coventry

Manchester United's 'Wembley' tweet immediately after Man City lost on penalties had fans in stitches on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid beat Pep Guardiola's side 4-3 on penalties to end Man City's hopes of winning back-to-back Champions League trophies.

Man United's X (formerly Twitter) account wasted no time before posting about their next match, writing 'Wembley is calling'.

The message came with an emoji of a phone and the graphic detailing the kick-off time against Coventry City on Sunday - at the same location where the 2024 Champions League final will take place, without their crosstown foes.

The execution of the standard social media post was heralded by supporters of the Red Devils.

One United fan wrote: 'why you posting this now' alongside three laughing emojis, while someone else added: 'The timing is goated!!' with an emoji of the domesticated livestock.

The social media worker behind the post was particularly praised for their timing, with one writing 'This admin' along with a jokey tongue-out face.

Others said: 'WHAT TIMING OMFG' and 'GOOD TIMING ADMIN' alongside a crying emoji and a red heart.

Manchester United play Championship side Coventry in the second of the two FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.

The previous evening, Guardiola's side face Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea, although Manchester City's hopes of replicating last season's Treble were ended by Real Madrid at the Etihad.

After a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu last week, the visitors took an early lead through Rodrygo, only for Man City to dominate the game and eventually pull level through Kevin De Bruyne's 76th minute goal.

Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic missed their kicks from the penalty spot, and the 2022 Champions League winners progressed to face Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.

Erik ten Hag will follow his own advice in preparing for the Coventry City game, by conducting his pre-match press conference at Man United's training base Carrington before travelling to London.

Man United will also stay in the same hotel and train on university pitches before the FA Cup semi-final, like they did for the two matches at Wembley last year.
