Arsenal have kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a 3-2 win over Spurs in last weekend’s North London Derby.

Up next for them is a home affair against Bournemouth before they travel to Old Trafford to face Man United on Sunday, May 12.

This second-last league game of Arsenal’s season is arguably their toughest on paper, as Mikel Arteta and Co can afford no more dropped points, with Man City set to retain the league title if they win their remaining games.

But Owen Hargreaves believes Arsenal should have little problem in dispatching Man United. As quoted by Metro, the former United man said during a Premier League Productions show that Arsenal should be able to dictate the game at Old Trafford and have the upper hand against Erik ten Hag’s men.

‘They can be anything, United, it’s mad. Even at home to Burnley, it was Burnley who had more possession.

‘That game might suit United because they’ll be able to play on the counter and hit them on the break.

‘But Mikel Arteta does such a great job in formulating game-plans to nullify those threats so I think Arsenal will beat Man United.

‘United can’t control games, the middle of the pitch is so open and Arsenal’s midfield is brilliant with [Martin] Odegaard and [Declan] Rice. So I don’t see United troubling Arsenal.’

Man United have a Monday-night game away at Crystal Palace before they host Arsenal. With the top four out of reach, all efforts need to be made to finish as high up the Premier League table as possible.

Hard to argue with that logic

Man United’s Champions League chase may be over, but they still need results to hold on to their sixth spot if they want to play Europa League football next season and have some semblance of form going into the FA Cup final.

Moreover, denying Arsenal their first league title in 20 years should be reason enough to spur the Red Devils on for a one-off game even more. They have already played their part in spoiling Liverpool’s party this season; they’d enjoy it even more if they could spoil another one, even at the expense of handing another title to their same-city rivals.
