Tottenham Hotspur are now showing an interest in a forward from Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

Daniel Levy has sanctioned a lot of arrivals since Ange Postecoglou‘s appointment which has seen Tottenham make some big strides under the Australian.

Of course, the result on the weekend will make the project feel a lot more distant to what it actually is but Spurs are heading in the right direction.

Losing in such emphatic fashion to Newcastle United on the weekend will bring back memories of last year’s result on Tyneside.

But the season has been largely positive, it is just a reminder that there are still improvements which need to be made over the coming months.

And it seems as if a current Premier League player could be on the radar of those at Hotspur Way to provide an option for Postecoglou’s attack.

Manchester United have not exactly had the best of season’s but it seems as if Spurs think one of their forwards could be worth bringing in.

Tottenham eyeing move for Manchester United outcast this summer

Over recent weeks, there have been some really underwhelming displays from the Spurs forwards with goals hard to come by.

Heung-min Son has been largely brilliant this season, however, the South Korean captain has failed to find the back of the net in his last three games.

And there will be major question marks over Timo Werner‘s ability to find the back of the net.

The German’s ability to get into the right spaces is perhaps one of the best in the side, however, his finishing has proven pretty dreadful.

Losing Harry Kane in the summer was always going to mean Spurs were going to need to spread the goals about.

With no out and out striker signed by the club, Spurs are seemingly targeting versatile forwards who can play across the front line.

And according to Tuttosport [page three], Spurs are now considering a potential move for Anthony Martial from Manchester United.

A number of European clubs are said to be interested in the Frenchman who is soon to become a free agent including Juventus and AS Monaco.

Could Anthony Martial be an upgrade on Timo Werner?

The Frenchman has played just 629 minutes of football this season where he has returned two goals across all competitions.

However, this is a player who has been described as ‘unplayable’ by TalkSPORT pundit Lee Sharpe.

But his time at United has been turbulent to say the very least having failed to score double figures in the league since 2019/20.

Seasons Anthony Martial league goals Timo Werner league goals
23/24 1 4
22/23 6 9
21/22 1 4
20/21 4 6
19/20 17 28
18/19 10 16
17/18 9 13

Despite this, he could still potentially prove to be an upgrade on Werner if Spurs were able to get the best out of the Frenchman.

It is a question of whether Postecoglou could get the best out of a player who has been so drastically out of form in recent years.
