Wayne Rooney has baffled fans by revealing his bizarre sleeping routine that he does every night he's in bed by himself.

The former Manchester United and England captain hit headlines earlier this week when he appeared on Sky Sports, providing punditry on Everton's 2-0 Merseyside derby win over Liverpool at Goodison Park.

Rooney impressed in his appearance, with his highlight being an immediate call-out of Virgil van Dijk after his comments about early kick-offs.

But the former Derby County and D.C United boss has also caused a stir for revealing how he sleeps.

When he is sleeping on his own, Rooney has the hairdryer on next to him for the whole night.

He made the admission while playing Pro Clubs with 'Girth and Turf'.

"If I'm in bed on my own, I sleep with the hairdryer on," Rooney said on the Twitch stream. I sleep with the hairdryer on the whole night.

"I have it on cold. On my kids' lives, I sleep with the hairdryer on and it's in the bed right next to me blowing on my head. I've got two fans next to my bed as well."

Understandably, his teammates were astonished by what Rooney was saying.

One joked, "That's got to be PTSD of Fergie shouting at you", referencing Sir Alex Ferguson's infamous hairdryer treatment at Manchester United.

Pieface told United's record goalscorer that his "electricity bill must be through the roof", while manager and staunch Red Devils fan Angry Ginge simply said, "I can't believe what I'm hearing".

Rooney has produced a whole host of hilarious moments on his Pro Clubs crossover.

Earlier this month, after a trial period with the team, he hit Ginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, with a brutal insult.

After Ginge said, "You can come back tomorrow, mate. Don't be s*** again", Rooney fired back by calling him a "ginger c***!".
