Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been linked with Zinedine Zidane and the former Real Madrid manager has now broken his silence about his future plans
Zinedine Zidane has spoken out about his managerial future, revealing he has no plans to manage Bayern Munich in the future.
Zidane has been out of work since the end of his second spell in charge of Real Madrid back in 2021 and the Frenchman has been linked with a host of top jobs, including Bayern and Manchester United.
However, he has now ruled out replacing Thomas Tuchel at Bayern this summer when quizzed on his future plans at the Miami Grand Prix. Asked specifically if he will take over at Bayern, Zidane told Sky Germany: "No.
"I am going to watch the game [the second leg of Bayern's Champions League semi-final against Real]. I hope Madrid wins but it is going to be a difficult and complicated match."
Zidane's comments will come as a boost to United, with French outlet L'Equipe reporting last month that he was interested in potentially replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. Ten Hag's future remains in doubt after a disappointing second season in charge.
United crashed out of the Champions League in the group stages and have already failed to qualify for next season's tournament, with the Red Devils sat 13 points off the top four. New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already begun to ring the changes after taking full control of football operations and he is yet to give Ten Hag his public backing.
However, the Dutchman remains confident he will still be in charge next season, despite the departures of key allies John Murtough and Richard Arnold. When asked if Murtough and Arnold leaving the club had left him feeling exposed, Ten Hag replied: "No, I don't have that feeling.
"I work well with them, we are aligned, we communicate every day. There are already new people in a new structure and we communicate on a daily basis. I don't think in [terms of] danger.
"I think in opportunities. I never think in problems, I think 'how do we solve those problems or avoid them?'" And he is already planning for the upcoming transfer window, having struggled with injury problems this season.
"Yes, that is one of the issues in constructing the squad where we have to improve, to do things better," he said. "To construct a squad where we have more depth. I'm not sure [if that means more signings than usual]. But I think the most important thing is to get players back."
