Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has sent a pointed message after his display in the 5-0 win over Chelsea. Havertz scored twice in the Gunners’ 5-0 rout at the Emirates Stadium to boost Arsenal’s title bid.

Leandro Trossard opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta’s side before both Havertz and Ben White grabbed braces. The result moves Arsenal three points ahead of Liverpool and four clear of Manchester City, with both of their title rivals set to be in action before the weekend.

The performance was particularly sweet for Havertz, who was sold by Chelsea last summer and is enjoying the type of form that struggled to materialise during his time at Stamford Bridge. The Germany international has begun to make the centre-forward spot his own, with 11 goal contributions in his last 10 league games.

Given his history with Chelsea, where he scored the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, Havertz ignored the common trope of not celebrating against his former team. After scoring his first goal of the night, the 24-year-old put out his hands from the side of his head and stuck out his tongue.

A nod to coming back to haunt his old club, Havertz would have enjoyed scoring against Chelsea. On Instagram, Havertz posted a picture of his knee-side celebration, writing: “Important 3 points and performance to continue the momentum!”

Arsenal’s win managed to maintain pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City ahead of their respective midweek games against Everton and Brighton. For the Gunners, attention will quickly turn to the upcoming North London Derby clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
