Romano sheds light on why Jason Wilcox agreed to Manchester United move

Jason Wilcox is set to be the newest backroom member for Manchester United. After stealing Omar Berrada from Man City and forcing Newcastle United to send Dan Ashworth on gardening leave, INEOS will now be adding Jason Wilcox to the roster.

The Southampton man is expected to take over as technical director for Man United in a move that might confuse a few. Sir Jim Ratcliffe will likely have to pay a decent fee to the Championship side before Wilcox’s arrival becomes official.

Fabrizio Romano has shed light on why Jason accepted a move to the Red Devils out of all places. It seems like his decision has to do with his history with the city of Manchester, let’s have a look. (h/t givemesport)

“He wanted to go to Manchester United because he believes it is the perfect project for him. Obviously, he knows the city because he worked for Manchester City for a long time in their academy.”

Romano then reassured the people that Jason Wilcox will definitely be joining Manchester United and it’s only a matter of when instead of how. His experience with City will likely help him prosper with the Red Devils.

Wilcox is respected for his time with United’s local rivals and a lot of people believe he can bring the best out of young talent. Moreover, the Southampton man has a close relationship with Omar Berrada.

The now 53-year-old has also helped his previous teams with the signing of some high-profile stars. Surely, the Red Devils will be expecting him to do the same for them.
