Manchester United are considering parting ways with Erik ten Hag and two high-profile names are being considered as his replacement.

Ten Hag has guided United to the final of the FA Cup but is under pressure after nearly blowing a three-goal lead at Wembley to Championship side Coventry.

With the Champions League places also out of reach, it’s been another season of misery in the main for Ten Hag and his team.

Now, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team coming into the club, the Dutch coach is under even more intense pressure than ever and he could now be replaced.

And according to journalist Rudy Galetti, United are considering two foreign coaches as they toy with the idea of replacing Ten Hag.

Manchester United eye Thomas Tuchel and Thiago Motta as potential Erik ten Hag replacements

Taking to social media to confirm news about Ten Hag and United, journalist Galetti has said that the club are ‘inclined’ to move on from the Dutchman.

And in doing so, Galetti has named Thomas Tuchel and Thiago Motta as the two leading candidates.

Three different risks for Ratcliffe and co to consider

It’s going to effectively shape Manchester United’s immediate future what happens this summer.

For Ratcliffe and the rest of the decision makers, they face three different scenarios here.

If they keep Ten Hag, then he simply has to be backed heavily and there can be no backing away from that decision if he doesn’t start next season well.

Secondly, if they go for Tuchel, he is safe pair of hands but as we’ve seen, doesn’t hang around long and has already fell out with those higher up in Munich.

Finally, with Motta, he is succeeding at Bologna but the step up to United is massive and as we’ve seen with Ten Hag, success in another league is no guarantee of success in England.

Manchester United have some huge calls to make here and if they get it wrong, it could well be another season of nothing next term.
