David De Gea spotted training at English club as former Man Utd goalkeeper makes contract decision

The Spanish goalkeeper has been without a club since leaving Manchester United last summer.

David De Gea has teased a potential return to club football, 10 months after he announced his departure from Manchester United.

The 33-year-old former Spain international, who became a free agent in July after failing to agree terms on a new contract at Old Trafford, is still on the lookout for a new club.

He has been linked with a host of clubs over the past year, including Real Betis, Bayern Munich and Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, who were ready to offer the Spaniard a £250,000-a-week contract.

But the goalkeeper continues to stall on making a move as the 2023/24 campaign comes to an end. Last year, it was suggested that De Gea wanted his next move to be in Spain.

A report from the Daily Mail said: "He married his long-term partner in Menorca this summer and after so long away the feeling is they prefer to settle back in Spain."

However, De Gea has continued living in the Manchester area and was recently pictured training at the J Davidson Stadium; home of National League side Altrincham.

Earlier this week he posted a picture of himself being put through his paces at the ground alongside a GIF that read: "I'll be back."

He also posted a picture featuring a “loading” graphic, suggesting he could return sooner rather than later.

In others news, De Gea would be willing to take a major pay cut from his old Manchester United contract to join a new club, according to reports.

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claim that La Liga side Real Betis are planning a new approach for the goalkeeper, having been linked with him earlier in the season.

De Gea would have to reduce his salary significantly from the £375,000-per-week deal he was on at Old Trafford, but the goalkeeper is said to view a potential move back to La Liga 'favourably'.
