Wayne Rooney was called a ‘fat granny sh*gger’ on YouTuber AngryGinge’s EAFC Pro Club live stream, and his response was priceless.
Manchester United and formerly England’s all-time record goalscorer has signed up for YouTuber EAFC (previously known as FIFA) Pro Clubs team, Girth N Turf, who also boast the likes of darts sensation Luke Littler, rapper Aitch and a host of social media faces.
Rooney was manager at Championship side Birmingham City earlier this season, taking charge of just 15 games, winning just twice, before he was sacked in January. While many anticipated a return to management or even a stint at boxing, the 38-year-old has been enjoying his time playing EAFC.
Appearing in the latest stream alongside United supporter AngryGinge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, the pair enjoyed the English downfall in the Champions League and Europa League this week as Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool were all dumped out of their respective European competitions this season.
But an irate fan decided to bite back at the stick aimed the way of their club, as AngryGinge exclaimed: “I’m just being called, for some reason, you’re just a fat granny sh*gger, apparently, cheers mate.”
Silence fell over the stream before Rooney replied: “I don’t think that was aimed at you”, causing the call to burst into laughter. Fans on Twitter also lapped up Rooney’s response, as one labelled his reaction: “Incredible.” A second said: “He took it so well fair play to him,” while a third added: “Rooney on pro clubs is so funny man.”
Ever the professional, Rooney was recently tricked by AngryGinge about a training session for Girth N Turf between 8am and 11am in the morning, but was surprised to find out that no one else was online. After clocking the prank, Rooney told the YouTuber: “I've been up since half seven with the controller in my hands and I've just found out that it's just banter you lads have”.
