Cesc Fabregas has claimed that a certain Manchester City player has superior technique to Bukayo Saka.

If any ex-footballer is the right candidate to discuss technique, it is Fabregas.

The former Arsenal superstar was renowned for how elegant he was with the ball at his feet.

In an era of the Premier League where midfielders like Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira were typified by their aggression and brute strength, some would say the Spaniard was ahead of his time for English football.

Fabregas was diminutive in size but technically, he was a dream, renowned for his incredible passing range, first touch and dribbling in tight spaces.

One could tell that the World Cup winner’s footballing education was from La Masia due to just how technically sound he was.

Fabregas says City have a player who has better technique than Saka

While Bukayo Saka is nowhere near as technically gifted as Cesc Fabregas, he is a joy to watch with the ball at his feet.

From day one, Saka’s seemed to fit at the first-team level for Arsenal, partly due to much quality he possesses as a technician.

The way the Englishman carries the ball and delivers it into the box just shows that his basics do not necessarily need major improvement.

But since their rise, a club that has been associated with having technicians of the highest order are Manchester City, much like Arsenal.

David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Yaya Toure, Kevin De Bruyne — the list of technically brilliant players they have had has been off the charts.

Especially in the middle of the park.

Now, Cesc Fabregas was asked to compare Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka by Sport Bible based on different traits and one of the characteristics where he felt the former was superior to the latter is his technique.

Cole Palmer was also one of the players being likened to the other two attackers in terms of their respective traits.

Cesc Fabregas felt that apart from just his technique, Phil Foden bettered Bukayo Saka in terms of his passing and work rate.

Foden is certainly a better technician than the Arsenal superstar

In our view, not many should disagree with Cesc Fabregas in rating Phil Foden as a better technician to Bukayo Saka.

Saka’s technique is excellent but Foden has a claim of being the most technically gifted player in Europe.

Manchester City’s number 47 pips the Gunners poster-boy in several technical aspects: dribbling, first touch, shooting and passing.

Saka might be more direct than Foden and better in wide areas than him.

But as a technician, the way Phil Foden operates is on a higher level than Bukayo Saka, as Cesc Fabregas stated.

Saka can execute the same technical actions Foden can but perhaps not with as much consistency.
