Arsenal have paid an emotional tribute to young supporter Daniel Anjorin after the 14-year-old was murdered in a sword attack on Tuesday.

The Gunners posted a statement ahead of their match against AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates on Saturday, revealing plans to honour Anjorin before kick-off.

Supporters from both sets of clubs applauded for Anjorin as a big picture of the young Arsenal fan appeared on the big screen at the Emirates.

Anjorin, who was a huge football fan and particularly admired Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, was tragically killed in a sword attack in London this week after a man crashed his van and stabbed five people in Hainault.

The late teenager’s school, Bancroft’s, said he was a ‘true scholar’ who had a ‘positive nature and gentle character’.

‘We share in the shock and sadness of Daniel Anjorin’s death earlier this week,’ Arsenal said in a statement on Friday.

‘With his family’s blessing, we will make a tribute to Daniel shortly ahead of kick off [against Bournemouth].

‘We ask all supporters to pay their respects to Daniel with us in this moment.’

Arsenal have reportedly been in close contact with the police family liaison officer working on the case to offer the victim’s family their support.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Bournemouth fans united on social media ahead of the game to provide a minute’s applause in the 14th minute, with emotions running high on social media.

‘Of course we will join in,’ one Bournemouth supporter, @TommaxMw, posted on X. ‘What is this country coming to. It’s unbelievable what’s happening on our streets.’

Arsenal supporter @davidcarrol1 added: ‘RIP Daniel. [The] Arsenal family will always remember you, little Gunner.’

Another fan, @Kloppenheimer, shared: ‘RIP Daniel. I hope we win the league for you.’

Daniel was a pupil at private school Bancroft’s in Woodford Green, the same school in east London attended by Grace O’Malley-Kumar, a medical student who was murdered in a knife attack in Nottingham last summer.
