Real Madrid Has Three Options For Mbappe Transfer Announcement, Reports AS

Real Madrid has defined three possible timeframes to announce the signing of Kylian Mbappe according to AS, which cited anonymous sources.

Mbappe told PSG that he would not renew his expiring contract with them earlier this year, as reported by the likes of The Athletic.

With the Ligue 1 giants believed to be on the verge of Champions League elimination given they lost a quarterfinal first leg tie 3-2 to Madrid's bitter rivals FC Barcelona, SPORT reported that Mbappe would announce a free transfer on June 30 in the coming days.

This was also to Madrid's fancy the Catalan newspaper explained, with it also feared that the club from the Spanish capital might also be KO'd from the continent by UCL holders Manchester City.

As it turned out, though, none of those potential events came to pass. PSG eliminated Barca at the Montjuic Stadium in a 4-1 win that saw Mbappe score a brace to guarantee a 6-4 aggregate scoreline and set up a semifinal clash with Borussia Dortmund ahead of the Frenchman confirming that he will not change his mind on leaving.

And over in northwestern England, Madrid prevailed on penalties to advance to the last four where Carlo Ancelotti's men will also face German opposition in Bayern Munich.

These developments meant no announcement on Mbappe's next move was made, and that Madrid and PSG might face off in what would be a European final for the ages.

With this in mind, making the Mbappe switch official public knowledge and presenting him at the Bernabeu might be done after that Wembley showdown on June 1 irrespective of who gets there, and before the European Championships get underway on June 14.

According to AS, two other timeframes that are being considered are after the Euros decider on July 14.

Or, alternatively, Madrid's next Galactico signing could be revealed before the international tournament while Mbappe is shown off to fans in his new home after.

In any case, it seems that confirming the move previously planned in 2017 and 2022, but finally coming to light this summer, is a case of "when" rather than "if".
