Thomas Partey makes Arsenal title demand and sends Tottenham warning ahead of clash

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has warned Tottenham ahead of a key Premier League match in the title run-in

Thomas Partey has told his Arsenal teammates they have to win their last four Premier League games starting with Tottenham on Sunday, to win the title.

The Ghanaian midfielder's commanding performances have been pivotal, especially after dominating Chelsea's high-profile midfield in a resounding 5-0 victory on Tuesday night. Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta's guidance, have surged to a three-point lead over Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table following their emphatic win against Chelsea.

Although Manchester City, trailing by four points with two games in hand, are still in control of their fate, they face a challenging trip to Brighton on Thursday. The Gunners are ramping up the pressure ahead of the run-in.

Arteta previously mentioned that they might need over 90 points to clinch their first league title in two decades. If Arsenal can secure four more victories, they would match City's championship-winning total from the previous campaign - 89 points.

Partey confidently stated: "Everything depends on us. We have to continue winning our games, we have a few more games left and we have to win them all. We know it is going to be a very difficult game," he added ahead of Spurs. "We know what to do. I think we have to test them."

His physical prowess would be a key asset at the Tottenham Stadium. For the first time since the Community Shield, he combined with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in midfield. Partey made the most interceptions (three) and two successful tackles, allowing Rice to push further forward and set up the opening goal.

Chelsea's £100m midfield duo, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, simply couldn't match Arsenal's level as the Gunners secured their 16th clean sheet. "We did everything possible to beat them in every situation of the game," Partey added.

The £45million signing made his fifth start of his injury-plagued season, three of which were at full-back. Arteta now has a pleasant selection headache for Sunday.

"We thought it was a really good game for Thomas to come back," said Arteta. "He stepped up and had a great performance and was really important for the team.

"What did I like most about that midfield trio? Everything, but also when they play Declan, Kai, and Martin or play with Emile as well or Jorginho for sure, he has played some big games and we've won some big, big games with him as well. It depends on the game, the opponent as well, it's great because everybody feels important as well, that's something really, really important now."

Arsenal's season seemed on the brink of collapse after losses to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich, but they have bounced back with seven goals in victories over Wolves and Chelsea. "You have to react and face the moment, and the moment is beautiful, we've been working for it for nine months," Arteta continued.

"So you certainly have to face it in the right way, value what we have and especially believe. If you are able to do it for nine months, you are able to win it, but you have to believe it first and you have to consistently do what you've been doing, nothing else."

Meanwhile, Chelsea's disappointing evening was compounded by a stellar performance from Kai Havertz, who netted twice against them. The German, remembered for his decisive goal in the 2021 Champions League final, earned high praise from teammate Ben White: "Kai was amazing," he said. "He deserves it. He has been outstanding since he came in. You don't realise how good he is until you play with him."
