When is Man United vs Sheffield United?

The clash between the two teams will take place at Old Trafford this evening. It will be one of four Premier League games to be played on the night, and will get underway at 8pm.

That is over a month after it was originally scheduled to take place. The two sides were initially supposed to clash on Saturday, March 16, in what would have been a 3pm start in Manchester.

Why was the game moved?

The FA Cup remains Ten Hag’s last hope of silverware from an inconsistent season, and it’s his team’s run in this competition which led to the re-arrangement. Their 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest in the fifth round, courtesy of Casemiro’s late goal, was the initial reason for the Sheffield United clash being postponed.

Instead, United fans were treated to a rare afternoon of euphoria on Sunday, March 17, beating Liverpool 4-3 courtesy of Amad Diallo’s dramatic late winner. Although even that occasion didn’t quite match the drama of what transpired this weekend against the Sky Blues.

Why isn’t the game live on TV?

The game between the two sides was originally scheduled for the much-debated Saturday 3pm blackout. Under current regulations, unless a fixture is moved from that time-slot specifically for television coverage, it cannot be shown live.

Therefore, as Wednesday’s game was moved purely because of a fixture clash, it is still subject to the blackout. Instead, fans will be forced to follow updates but do at least have multiple options on that front, with the likes of Radio 5 Live, talkSPORT, and Sky Sports News set to keep listeners and viewers informed of proceedings.
