Liverpool icon makes ‘lowest he’s ever felt’ claim after dismal Everton loss

Liverpool legend Michael Owen expressed how sad he was after the Reds embarrassing loss to Everton, says he is at his lowest

Liverpool legend Michael Owen sure is unhappy after the surprising 2-0 defeat of the Reds to Everton in the Premier League clash on Wednesday.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for the hosts, dealing a possibly catastrophic blow to the Reds’ Premier League championship chances. While Jurgen Klopp refuses to give up, he conceded that both Manchester City and Arsenal require a crisis.

It was Klopp’s first defeat at Goodison Park in nine years as Liverpool manager. And, speaking after the game, Owen emphasized how big of a toll, the match took off the Liverpool fans.

Owen’s thoughts after the match

After the game, Michael Owen told media how he and every Liverpool fan out there would be at their lowest after the Reds’ Premier League hopes were crushed.

“This is the lowest I’ve felt in a while as a Liverpool fan I think. It’s quite painful, you get so excited about the season, about a month ago or something thinking ‘could Liverpool win all four? Already they won the first one of the season with the Carabao Cup.’ “

“And all of a sudden it just feels like in a couple of weeks its all just gone. Its quite hard to take as I say Liverpool fans around the world must be feeling a bit drained at this moment.”

Earlier this season, Liverpool won the Carabao cup defeating Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp and the squad made it their dream to get a quadruple this season, winning all three remaining cups too. But it wasn’t too late when their dream started withering away.

Klopp is still hopeful

First, the Reds lost the FA Cup quarterfinals to Manchester United with a thrilling 4-3 score line. Then, after a couple of weeks Reds lost their Europa league chance by losing to Atalanta on a 3-1 aggregate score.

Now, with their poor performance in the Premier League, their chances here also seem to fade away. Liverpool currently sits in second place in the standings with just three points behind the first-place holders, Arsenals. But Manchester City is also giving them a tough fight being just one point away from the Reds.

With Klopp leaving Anfield soon, he and his squad really hopes to get him one last Premier League title to depart him in style. But with their current performance, this will just end up being another one of their half-baked dreams.
