Liverpool saw off Tottenham today but BBC pundit Dion Dublin was left shocked by what he saw from one Reds star in the game.

Mo Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool before Andy Robertson added a second before half-time.

From there, Cody Gakpo and then Harvey Elliott both scored before a late flurry courtesy of Richarlison and Heung-Min Son got Tottenham within a sniff of something.

However, it was Liverpool’s day and in fairness, it could and should have been more.

Darwin Nunez missed another great chance after coming off the bench and even more stunning was the miss from just a few yards by talisman, Mo Salah.

And looking at the miss for the BBC, former Coventry striker Dion Dublin admitted to being amazed by what he’d seen Salah do.

Mo Salah shocks pundit with huge miss during Liverpool v Tottenham

Commenting on the incident for the BBC, Dublin admitted he was stunned at what Salah managed to do.

“I actually can’t believe what I’ve seen there. It is Mo Salah from three yards out with an empty net. I think he’s waiting for the contact or the Spurs players to clear it,” Dublin said.

Salah still produced when it mattered

All the best forwards miss chances but as the old saying goes, it’s all about getting yourself in those positions to score.

Salah, on another day, would have two or three today but at the end of the day, he was there when Liverpool needed the opening goal to get the ball rolling.

Going into next season, £34m signing Salah is going to be crucial to new manager Arne Slot.

His experience, consistency in terms of hitting over 20 goals a season, and not to mention his ability to provide assists – another 13 this season – will be vital for Slot’s new-look side.

Salah, then, remains one of the gods of Anfield and he was close to looking back to his best today.
