Harry Kane has described Bayern Munich’s win over Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals as "unbelievable" after a tight game against the Gunners.

A Joshua Kimmich header was enough to split the sides in the second leg after a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg last week. Former Spurs star Kane netted a penalty in the reverse fixture and played the full 90 minutes in the second leg at the Allianz Arena.

Speaking after the match, the England captain said that he anticipated a close contest in Germany and was pleased with how his side performed given the intensity of the match. "Unbelievable win,” Kane said.

“It's been a tough season for us. We've had to fight and really grind at times, and today was that. We knew it was going to be a tough game. We knew at home we could make the difference with our fans there. It was what we expected - a tough game, a tight game.

“It was a great goal from Josh to make the difference for us and then it was about defending and keeping that clean sheet. To reach the semi-final is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy this one."

Bayern keep their hopes of a trophy this season alive while Arsenal can only now win the Premier League. They will feel disappointed with a tepid performance that did not reflect their season so far.

Talking to reporters at full-time, manager Mikel Arteta said: “Very sad and disappointed with the final result. It was a tie of very small margins. In the first leg we conceded two poor goals.

"Today we came here and I’m really proud of the players, especially in the first half. It was a game where you can see an error or individual brilliance would make the difference. We didn’t defend our box well enough.”
