Manchester City could be handed the chance to strike a swap deal involving Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala this summer. The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium previously, and City may have discovered a makeweight who can be used in negotiations – Kyle Walker, as report the Star.

City are expected to bolster their forward ranks even further over the summer, with Lucas Paqueta and Florian Wirtz among the playmakers highlighted as potential targets if Bernardo Silva decides to make his much-anticipated departure.

Musiala is also on the shortlist of transfer targets at the end of the season, despite Bayern insisting that they are not looking to offload their versatile playmaker. Liverpool and Chelsea also have the Germany international in their sights, though City could hold the keys to unlocking negotiations with the Bavarian outfit. According to the Daily Star, Bayern retain an interest in signing Walker this summer.

The Bundesliga outfit came close to signing the England international last summer before Pep Guardiola was able to persuade the defender to extend his stay at the Etihad at the 11th hour. Walker ultimately put pen to paper on a contract until 2026 with City, but a move beforehand cannot be ruled out.

Walker and City are both said to be aware of Bayern reigniting their interest at the end of the season, with Bayern impressed by how the 33-year-old has played a glittering role in his side’s title charge this season.

It is unclear whether Walker is still keen to play abroad or if City would even facilitate his exit, though a swap deal involving Musiala could satisfy all parties given that the 21-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe.

City would certainly need to cough up a significant fee to be sent to Germany alongside Walker given that Musiala is valued at approximately £80million by Thomas Tuchel’s side, though they are likely to raise transfer funds through the sales of Kalvin Phillips and potentially Silva – who remains a top target for Barcelona.

Acquiring the services of Musiala would certainly send shockwaves through the Premier League given the immense level of interest in the former Chelsea academy star. The midfielder has scored 10 and assisted six in 24 league appearances so far this season.
