Despite cancellation: Nagelsmann does not categorically rule out Bayern return

Julian Nagelsmann was recently heavily linked with a comeback at FC Bayern. However, the former coach of the German record champions ultimately decided in favour of an extension with the DFB. However, a return to FCB is still possible from the 36-year-old’s perspective.

If everything goes according to plan, Julian Nagelsmann will remain national coach until the 2026 World Cup. According to his own statements, the extension beyond EURO 2024 was a „decision of the heart“. Rumour has it that not all those responsible in Munich were convinced of the idea of bringing him back in the summer.

Nagelsmann also had the option of returning to FC Bayern, but turned it down. The 36-year-old has now made it clear that this was not a fundamental decision. Should FCB come knocking again in the future, Nagelsmann does not rule out a return to the Isar: „I don’t think you can rule anything out in football,“ he explained in an interview with MagentaSport.

Nagelsmann had several options in the summer

The interesting thing is: Nagelsmann had several offers on the table: „I didn’t just have Bayern Munich and the DFB – there were a few other clubs. I always had a good feeling about the DFB and that was always one of my favourites. And yet it’s my duty to clarify other things, to meet up and think about what’s right for me, for the family, what’s right for the next two years.“
