Chelsea may hold the advantage over Tottenham Hotspur in the battle to sign Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.

Recent reports have emerged linking Spurs with the signing of Dorgu this summer. Italian news outlet Tuttosport has claimed that Tottenham have registered an interest in signing the 19-year-old but will face competition for his signature.

The report claims that Liverpool, Juventus, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing Dorgu in the summer. It has been stated that Lecce value Dorgu at around €20 million (£17 million), who is likely to be the subject of interest from several clubs when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Spurs may be mentioned in the report as apparently showing an interest in Dorgu, but Chelsea are not. Despite the Blues not being linked with a move for the Lecce defender, it seems that Chelsea may have the advantage over their London rivals.

Dorgu recently admitted that he has an affection for Chelsea, and opened up on a possibility of a move to the Premier League. The left-back, who is widely regarded as one of the most promising young stars in Serie A, went on to address the recent speculation surrounding his future at Lecce.

“I don't spend that much time on it," Dorgu said in an interview with Flashscore last month when asked about rumours that he could leave Leece.

"There are always rumours and there have also been some inquiries to my agent, but right now I am under contract in Lecce, and then we will have to see what happens."

Dorgu added: "I have been a Chelsea fan for many years, so of course it is clear that it is a dream. That's not to say I can't switch to other teams in the Premier League, but even if things aren't going so well for them right now, it's my team."
