Chelsea must really be regretting the sale of a player who is now highly sought after by top clubs around the Premier League.

Chelsea have a rich history of developing young talent from their Cobham academy and many have gone on to star in the first-team.

Conor Gallagher and Reece James are the current examples carrying that torch, with the academy duo among the best players at the club.

Though, some of their Cobham talent has slipped through the net and ended up at clubs elsewhere.

One has become an ‘unbelievable’ player at another side in the Premier League and Chelsea must rue selling him.

Chelsea must regret selling Marc Guehi

After an impressive loan spell at Swansea City during the 2020/21 campaign, Marc Guehi departed Chelsea in an £18m move to Crystal Palace.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and has become an England international.

Now, ahead of the fast-approaching summer transfer window, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all eyeing a move for him, as per The Telegraph.

Palace have slapped a £50m price tag on their prized asset and are compiling a list of centre-back targets, which could indicate that they are braced for offers.

He has two years left on his deal and this window would perhaps be the last chance to cash in on a substantial fee.

Chelsea must really rue selling him, as they watch the division’s leading clubs fighting over their former academy star.

Chelsea can’t afford to make the same mistake this summer

Chelsea simply can’t afford to make the same mistake this summer, they must place great emphasis on keeping their young talent and offering them a platform to develop at Stamford Bridge.

Omari Hutchinson will be the real test of that notion, as he is set to return from Ipswich Town after a marvellous loan spell.

The 2003-born has absolutely ripped it up in the Championship this term, particularly of late, and will be subjected to a lot of interest from clubs in the top flight, including Ipswich of course.

Chelsea should only consider a loan deal, but even then, he could be a real outlet on the right for Pochettino.

A telling window awaits.
