Declan Rice has had a sensational debut season at Arsenal.

The England international has taken to life at the Emirates like a duck to water. He’s already one of Arsenal’s most important players, and he’s taken the team to the next level this term.

However, according to Rio Ferdinand, Rice may not be wholly satisfied by how this campaign has gone.

Indeed, writing on a Q and A session on Reddit, Ferdinand says that he knows Rice personally, and he will be solely judging himself on what Arsenal win this season.

How Declan Rice will judge himself

Ferdinand spoke about Rice and how he will view his own season.

“Declan Rice. I think that the best way to explain Declan is that no one’s talked about the 100 million pound price tag. That tells you he’s done a lot of stuff right, and he’s been playing well. But I know Declan, and I think he’ll be judging himself on what they win, and rightly so at that level,” Ferdinand wrote.

Declan Rice’s is focused on the right things

While it may sound as though Rice is being incredibly harsh on himself, it’s great to hear that he’s focused on the right things here.

Indeed, while the midfielder may be enjoying all of the individual praise he’s been getting, he knows that this is a team game and trophies are all that matters.

Of course, Rice may yet finish this season happy as Arsenal continue to push for a Premier League title, but, given that Manchester City’s fate lies in their own hands, it may well end up being a disappointing campaign for Rice and Arsenal.

If Rice does finish this season disappointed, don’t be surprised if he comes back next season with a vengeance and looks to right the wrongs of this campaign.
