Chelsea secured a huge three points against Everton in Premier League action on Monday evening. Cole Palmer netted four in the 6-0 win with Nicolas Jackson and Alfie Gilchrist also on target, however it was a hugely controversial moment that stole the headlines coming out of the win.

The Blues won a penalty at the start of the second half after Palmer was fouled by Abdoulaye Doucoure with a fierce debate then ensuing as to who was going to take it. Noni Madueke and Jackson both wanted the spot-kick with Palmer later joining the argument.

Initially, Madueke had the ball in his arms with Thiago Silva attempting to diffuse the situation before Palmer, backed up by Conor Gallagher, arrived on the scene. As the usual penalty-taker, Palmer ended up taking it to score his fourth goal of the game with his tally up to 20 for league goals this season.

After the game, Mauricio Pochettino was understandably asked for his thoughts on the argument among his players with a very clear answer given by the Chelsea boss. "I am going to tell you, to make it clear; the players know, the staff know, the club know that the penalty taker is Cole Palmer," he admitted in his post-match press conference. "All that happened after is a shame. I am so, so upset about this situation.

"I am not going to accept again this type of behaviour. I am going to be very strong if something like this happens again. I was telling them and I promise this is not going to happen again. It is the type of process that we need to learn when you have a young squad that sometimes the personal aims are in front of the collective."

As Palmer wheeled away in celebration, the bulk of Chelsea's squad joined in however Jackson was far from interested. Just as it looked as though the Senegal international would head back to his own half, it was actually Madueke, along with the help of Trevoh Chalobah who told Jackson to go and celebrate with Palmer and he duly obliged.

Despite being left furious by the penalty situation, it was Madueke who ended up being the bigger person with his message on Instagram also proving that. Alongside a picture of the Chelsea team in a huddle, he captioned the post with three blue heart emojis with Malo Gusto quickly in the replies. The France international wrote: "Together broski [blue heart emoji]."
