Manchester United have focused on midfielders in both of Erik ten Hag’s summer transfer window, but may need to look in that direction again this summer.

United’s midfield has been a problem for a while now and the signings under Ten Hag haven’t quite worked out.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen arrived in 2022 but haven’t made the desired impact this season and, to put it rather brutally, they look past their best.

United then invested in Mason Mount and brought in Sofyan Amrabat on loan during last summer’s transfer window.

Mount has spent most of the season injured and Amrabat will be sent back to Fiorentina having looked well off the pace in the Premier League.

We would expect Casemiro and Eriksen to be available this summer whilst Amrabat will return to Italy, so United will need to have a number of midfield signings in mind.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wanted

Reports in March suggested that United are interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

It was suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to see United go for Dewsbury-Hall amid Leicester’s financial issues.

Leicester have been investigated for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and could face a points deduction if they return to the Premier League.

Making a big sale would certainly help Leicester’s accounts and United may look to take full advantage with a move for Dewsbury-Hall.

The 25-year-old has racked up 12 goals and 13 assists this season, dominating in the Championship to again prove that he deserves to be a Premier League player.

Hailed as an ‘amazing player’ by former teammate Ademola Lookman – who also hailed Dewsbury-Hall’s energy and tenacity – the Leicester ace could be valuable addition for United, especially as a homegrown midfielder.

Dewsbury-Hall’s love for Manchester United clear

If United come calling, we would imagine that Dewsbury-Hall would jump at the chance.

Not only would the move be a big step forward for his career, but Dewsbury-Hall appears to love the club.

Dewsbury-Hall told Sport Bible in 2022 that his hero is Paul Scholes and that it always would be having grown up idolising him.

Old tweets from Dewsbury-Hall have now resurfaced which show him cheering on United long before emerging into the Leicester side.

Some highlights were Dewsbury-Hall hailing United for going 2-0 up at Fulham in 2011 and signing off one 2012 tweet with the famous ‘GGMU’ tag.

Dewsbury-Hall would even send tweets to David De Gea and Wayne Rooney, cheering the pair on in their United days.

United may now offer Dewsbury-Hall the chance to follow in their footsteps this summer and form part of a new-look midfield.
