West Ham United are set to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League second-leg clash at the London Stadium tomorrow night.

The Europa League quarter-final second-leg clash with Bayer Leverkusen could well be West Ham United’s biggest game to date in our Stratford home.

Sure, the odds are stacked against David Moyes and his Hammers side, but stranger things have happened.

West Ham will be missing Lucas Paqueta and Emerson Palmieri, who are both suspended. Meanwhile, Moyes has plenty of injury concerns, with Konstaninos Mavropanos the most recent name to be reported as a doubt for tomorrow’s night’s clash with the Bundesliga champions.

It’s a real shame that Moyes hasn’t got a full squad to choose from for our most important game of the season so far.

However, it seems as though the Scot will have a couple more players at his disposal than he had out in Germany last week…

It is still completely up in the air as to which XI will take to the pitch at the London Stadium tomorrow night.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The Hammers really could do with a couple of fitness boosts ahead of kick-off, and it seems as though we’ve been given exactly that.

Weirdly though, I’m not even sure if the two returning players will make any difference whatsoever for us…

According to the Evening Standard, both Alphonse Areola and Kalvin Phillips are set to return to the West Ham squad for tomorrow night’s clash with Leverkusen.

However, despite the fact that having injured players returning is usual a good thing, neither are likely to feature against the Bundesliga side.

Lukasz Fabianski is our cup keeper, so Areola will probably just be on the bench. Meanwhile, Phillips has been absolutely horrendous since joining us on loan from Manchester City in January.

The key one for us will be Jarrod Bowen. If the 27-year-old is passed fit to start the game, I think we’ll have a chance.

If West Ham are to have any chance of beating Bayer Leverkusen, and progressing through to the semi-finals, we need Bowen, it’s as simple as that.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he makes a miraculous recovery in time for the clash with the Bundesliga side.
