Newcastle United thrashed Sheffield United 5-1 at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon - leading to the Blades' relegation from the Premier League. As the Magpies close in on European football for the second consecutive season, Chris Wilder's side are officially demoted to the second tier of English football for the 2024/25 campaign.

Anel Ahmedhodžić opened the scoring during this afternoon's fixture, giving Sheffield fans a glimmer of hope during their relegation battle - but the Blades wouldn't keep the lead for long, with Alexander Isak levelling the game in the 26th minute. Bruno Guimaraes would make it 2-1 around ten minutes after half time, before Isak would double down through a penalty in the 61st.

Ben Osborn put the ball in the back of his own net on 65 minutes in, before Callum Wilson would make it 5-1 in the 72nd. NUFC fans were behind their team for the duration of the fixture, and Chronicle Live photographer was there to capture the emotion as the Magpies snatched another victory in style.
