Liverpool told they could ‘appease fans’ by replacing Mohamed Salah with ‘best player on the planet’

Liverpool fans know that Jurgen Klopp will leave at the end of the season, but will Mohamed Salah follow suit?

The 31-year-old’s current deal expires in 2025, so a decision needs to be made on his future this summer, either sign a new contract or leave.

Given that Saudi Arabia are lurking in the background, it just puts that dark cloud over Liverpool and whether their superstar player will leave.

Even with his dip in form in recent months, Mohamed Salah has still scored 18 Premier League goals and supplied ten assists.

That just proves how important he is to the club’s cause, so you would have to be brave to let him leave, unless there is some masterplan.

The issue for the Anfield faithful is that their owners – Fenway Sports Group (FSG) – aren’t exactly big spenders.

But when they need that big player, such as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker, then they would be willing to bring them in.

Darren Bent suggested that if Liverpool can sell Salah to the Saudi Pro League, and get sufficient money, then they could use that to lure Kylian Mbappe to Merseyside, as he told talkSPORT.

Liverpool have previously been keen on the PSG speedster, but it seems as though he will be joining Real Madrid in the summer.

Despite some still questioning Mbappe, after PSG were knocked out of the semi-finals of the Champions League, Bent made it clear that the 25-year-old is still ‘the best on the planet’.

Kylian Mbappe replacing Mohamed Salah at Liverpool

“I still think he is the best player on the planet,” insisted Bent. “I get it, in the knockout stages of the Champions League, his record isn’t great. But the biggest game on the planet is the World Cup final. The whole world is watching. He scored in both finals and in one of them he scored a hat-trick. I still think Mbappe is incredible.

If he had two years left on his contract how much would Mbappe go for: “£150m+. I would pay that for him.

On going to Liverpool: “That would work,” added Bent. “If Salah went and he came in. Imagine you are trying to appease the Liverpool fans by going ‘listen, you are going to lose Salah, but Mbappe is coming’. I almost feel like that’s what they need and he is versatile. He can play down the middle. They have a number of attacking players down the club that are versatile.”

Liverpool should keep Mohamed Salah

Arne Slot is expected to be Liverpool’s next manager and he is going to need every help he can get next season.

Liverpool have proven when Salah isn’t firing and Diogo Jota can’t stay out of the treatment room that you can’t rely on anyone else to score the goals.

That’s why it’s paramount that Salah stays because the team will become unstable when Klopp goes and they need to make sure there is as little damage as possible.

Of course, if the Saudis come in with a wad of cash, then you will have no choice but to accept it.

But with 12 months left on his contract, there is no logic in the Saudi Pro League throwing so much at Salah when they can get him for free next summer.
