Sergio Ramos’ time at Sevilla FC appears to be coming to an end, as the two parties are reportedly struggling to reach an agreement on a contract extension.
Ramos joined Sevilla on a one-year deal last summer after his departure from Real Madrid. However, the defender’s hefty wage demands have proven to be a stumbling block in negotiations for a new contract.
According to report from Todofichajes, Ramos’ agent, his brother René Ramos, has been in contact with several Major League Soccer clubs, including Inter Miami, co-owned by Lionel Messi.
Sevilla, on the other hand, are reluctant to meet Ramos’ salary expectations, especially considering his age and recent injury concerns. The club reportedly signed Ramos to a one-year deal with relatively low wages, similar to those offered to youth academy graduates.
With the end of the season approaching, Ramos’ contract is set to expire. If the current situation persists, and Sevilla remain unwilling to meet his demands, the defender is likely to head to the MLS for a final adventure before retiring.
Both Inter Miami and LA Galaxy are reportedly interested in signing Ramos, with both clubs prepared to offer him a substantial salary and a two-to-three-year contract.
The outcome of this situation will determine Ramos’ next move and whether he will continue his career in Europe or embark on a new challenge in the United States.
