One Manchester City player could find themselves being put up for sale this summer.

Previous summer transfer windows have seen lots of players make moves away from the Manchester club, either on loan deals, as free agents or for significant transfer fees.

For example, the previous summer window saw Joao Cancelo join Barcelona on a season-long loan, Ilkay Gundogan also joined the Spanish side as a free agent and Cole Palmer made a £42.5m move to Chelsea.

Even though the Blues have four crucial games left to play before the season ends and the next window opens, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding one particular figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad and what the next few weeks and months could hold for him.

Sergio Gomez could look to leave Man City this summer

A recent report from the Manchester Evening News had this to say on the matter.

It said: “If Sergio Gomez got any minutes between now and the end of the campaign, City will likely be winning comfortably.

“Gomez is firmly down the pecking order and may look to leave this summer after two seasons on the fringes.

“Any minutes he does get must be used to show City what he can do, or put himself in the shop window.”

Gomez has not been a regular figure for Guardiola at City

City signed the Spaniard from Anderlecht in a deal worth £11m during the 2022 summer transfer window.

In his debut season at the Manchester club, Gomez featured in 24 games across all competitions, starting 10 and delivering one assist in the process.

This campaign has seen the 23-year-old start just four of the 15 games he’s appeared in, which suggests that, despite his versatility in terms of being able to feature in numerous positions, the Spaniard has not been able to convince Guardiola he has what it takes to be a consistent starter for City.

With that in mind, it comes as no real surprise that it has now been claimed that Gomez may look to leave City in the summer in the presumed effort of trying to find regular game time elsewhere.
