David Moyes has just perfectly summed up exactly why he should be sacked as West Ham United manager.

West Ham boss David Moyes has overseen a disastrous 2024 thus far, and a recent report claimed that he’ll be moved on when the season ends.

Julen Lopetegui is believed to be the favourite to take over from the Scot, after holding talks with the Hammers owners.

In all fairness, Moyes surely can’t be surprised that his time at the London Stadium seems to be coming to an end.

The 61-year-old hasn’t performed well enough in his role as West Ham manager this season, especially when taking into account just how many top-class players he has at his disposal.

A team with Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez should not only be challenging for the top six, but they should also play some entertaining football.

Unfortunately for us, Moyes has managed neither of those things, and it’s clearly time for him and the club to go their separate ways.

The Scot has just inadvertently explained exactly why he should be given his marching orders…

David Moyes sums up exactly why he should be sacked

The Scot is in danger of really tarnishing his legacy by hanging on to his job at the London Stadium for too long.

In fact, it could be argued that he has already done that. Moyes should have left West Ham with his head held high last summer, but his ego and stubbornness put paid to any hopes of that happening.

Now, Moyes’s tenure at the London Stadium could be met with a sad ending.

Interestingly, the Scot’s comments to reporters yesterday show exactly why so many West Ham fans want him gone.

Moyes told WHUFC.com:

“We are eighth in the Premier League, with four games to go. It’s an incredible position to be in.”

Seriously, how poor is that from Moyes? Eighth is certainly not an ‘incredible position to be in’, especially when Chelsea and Brighton below us in the table have games in hands on us.

And remember, at the end of December we were sitting in sixth spot, just six points adrift of the Champions League places with a game in hand!

There is no reason why we shouldn’t be sixth in the league right now. Manchester United have been awful this season, and you have to grasp opportunities like that.

Who knows when they’ll ever come round again.

David Moyes is clearly satisfied with mediocrity, and that’s why he should be sacked as West Ham manager. It really is as simple as that.
