Aston Villa now leads the race to sign one of the Premier League’s biggest stars who is wanted by Arsenal and Man United.
The end of the 2023/24 campaign is near. It has been an extremely successful year for Unai Emery in his first year in charge of the club.
It looks extremely likely that the Villains will qualify for the Champions League and are still within a shout of winning the Europa Conference League.
Now, as the summer transfer window closes in, Villa must make sure that they continue to improve the squad or they risk being left behind.
On Wednesday it was reported that the club are currently leading the race to sign one incredible Premier League player this summer.
Michael Olise has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this campaign. The attacking midfielder has nine goals as well as four assists in 17 games in the top tier this season.
One of his most impressive performances came on Monday night as he scored twice in a 4-0 victory against Man United.
As a result of his performance, pundit Micah Richards told The Rest is Football Podcast that the Crystal Palace midfielder ‘will go to the top’.
He said: “He is going to be world-class. He is just one of them young players who needs to be guided in the right way.
“If he was ever to leave, or when he leaves Palace, if he picks the right team where he is allowed to express himself he is going to be a superstar. He is that good. He is going to the very top.”
In the aftermath of his performance, it has now been reported that Aston Villa are well in the race to acquire his signature.
According to Football Transfers, Olise may prefer to move to Villa Park in the summer over Arsenal and Man United.
This is because Olise feels he might not be guaranteed regular first-team football at Arsenal. As for Man United, their potential lack of European football makes their destination undesirable.
As a result, Villa’s potential qualification into the Champions League could help them attract Olise to the club. Monchi, who is Villa’s Head of Footballing Operations, is reportedly ‘confident’ that he can convince the star to Villa Park.
If Olise is available and interested in a move to Villa, the club needs to do everything in its power to ensure they get the move over the line.
The Palace midfielder could go on to become one of the best talents in the league. Olise has improved year after year at Selhurst Park and has shown no signs of slowing down.
An attacking lineup with him, Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers would terrorise the Premier League and would certainly help Villa achieve European football again next season.
If the option is there, Villa should pay whatever Palace’s asking price is to get the transfer over the line as soon as possible.
