Cole Palmer insulted by Chelsea team-mate again after smashing four past Everton

Cole Palmer stole the headlines yet again as Chelsea hammered Everton 6-0 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's rising star Cole Palmer was once again the target of some cheeky dressing room banter, as his match ball souvenir following his heroics against Everton was humorously defaced by a team-mate.

Palmer grabbed the headlines in Chelsea's 6-0 demolition of Everton at Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals after a perfect first half hat-trick. His first was a beautifully curved left-footed shot into the bottom corner, followed by a headed rebound and a third goal with his right foot that came from capitalising on a mistake by Jordan Pickford, all within the first 29 minutes.

The scoring spree continued with Nicolas Jackson adding a fourth, and despite an embarrassing spat between Noni Madueke and Jackson, Palmer kept his composure to secure his fourth from the spot. Alfie Gilchrist rounded off the tally with the sixth goal.

However, the limelight remained firmly on Palmer, who had previously bagged a hat-trick against Manchester United earlier in the month.

With an impressive record of 11 goals and four assists in just seven games, Palmer was presented with another match ball. Echoing the antics after the United victory, his teammates yet again signed the ball, but not without a repeat performance from the squad's joker, leaving a message that read "I told u you are a s*** player" - reminiscent of the previous "s*** player" comment left among the signatures after the win over Erik ten Hag's side.

The identity of the prankster remains a mystery, but a quick scan through the Instagram responses to Palmer's post might give us a hint. While Reece James hailed him as a "serious playa" and Raheem Sterling branded him as "class", it was Malo Gusto who chimed in with a teasing message of "you're boring man", accompanied by frosty emojis.

Palmer is now level with his ex-Manchester City team-mate Erling Haaland at the summit of the Premier League scoring table, both boasting 20 goals. Since his move from City to Chelsea, he's been nothing short of sensational, notching up 23 goals including a flawless record of nine penalties from nine and delivering 13 assists in 38 appearances for a Chelsea team that's had its fair share of struggles.

When Sky Sports asked whether this was his standout performance for Chelsea, Palmer responded: "Yeah. It all happened so fast in the first 30 minutes. We started well and to score another hat-trick, I am buzzing. But, I think the team needed that after Sunday and some previous games. We did well tonight."

Further pressed on which goal he favoured most, he singled out his first, which featured a slick nutmeg on Jarrad Branthwaite during the lead-up. "The first one I think was my favourite," he admitted. "My right foot was a bit of a swinger (for the third), but we got one. The first one probably."
