West Ham United manager David Moyes had something very interesting to say to the media yesterday afternoon.

David Moyes is being heavily linked with the West Ham exit door, with four managers apparently on David Sullivan’s shortlist to replace the Scot.

Julen Lopetegui, Graham Potter, Paulo Fonseca and Sebastien Hoeness are all thought to be in the running for the West Ham job.

The Hammers’ hopes of finishing inside the top seven this season are now all but over after yesterday’s draw.

Many West Ham fans want Moyes out now – it’s clear to see that he can’t take us to the next level, but Jamie O’Hara has warned the Hammers supporters that the Scot deserves a properly respectful send-off.

I feel like he’ll probably get a mixed reception whenever he is moved on. However, he’s just hinted that he might still be in the Hammers dugout next season…

David Moyes drops hint he will be West Ham manager next season

The Scot addressed the media after yesterday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool at the London Stadium.

With just three games left this season, even a return of nine points would be unlikely to secure us a top seven finish.

Qualifying for Europe would have been the target this season, considering how much money Moyes has spent and the sheer volume of quality players he has at his disposal.

If we don’t finish inside the top seven, it quite simply won’t be good enough, and Moyes should be moved on for that reason alone.

However, he’s just dropped a major hint that he might just be staying at the London Stadium…

Moyes responded to reporters when asked about Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool:

“Jürgen Klopp? I’ll be glad he’s gone. Too big, teeth are too bright. He’s been immense for Liverpool. He’s the daddy there & has been able to control a big football club. I’m glad to see the back of him I’ve got to say. Hurry up & get away Jurgen!”

Now, Moyes was clearly having a laugh and joke but the point that concerns me is the fact that it shouldn’t really matter to him that Klopp is leaving.

I thought it was taken as a given that Moyes will not be West Ham manager next season? Clearly not…

Unless, of course, the 61-year-old Scot has another Premier League job lined up next season.

I listened to the entire press conference yesterday though, and I just got a feeling that he thinks he’s going nowhere.

If that does turn out to be the case, we won’t be making any genuine progress next season, I’m almost certain of that.
