Newcastle United have a number of players who other clubs want this summer but they could be about to tie down one of their superstars with a huge contract.

The Magpies are going into the summer with a number of issues to sort in terms of keeping some of their top players.

Bruno Guimaraes has a widely known £100m release-clause, while Alexander Isak is a player who the likes of Arsenal and more would like to sign.

However, while the threat of big bids from elsewhere is there, Newcastle are now confident they have got at least one of those two players to commit to fresh terms.

Newcastle confident of new mega contract for Alexander Isak

Newcastle are now confident that Alexander Isak will soon put pen-to-paper on a new contract, TBR Football understands.

TBR revealed last month that Newcastle were ready to open talks as Isak was due to to be bit with a wage drop due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Now sources have told TBR that Isak is set to be handed a new deal that will make him the highest paid player in the club’s history.

It is also believed that Isak’s representatives are pushing for a release clause to be inserted, similar to Bruno Guimaraes – who had one inserted in his new deal.

Arsenal and Chelsea are amongst a number of clubs to show an interest in Isak – but Newcastle insist they have will not entertain any bids for their Swedish superstar.

Isak stay is key for Newcastle

Not many players can say they’ve been a 20-goal a season man in the Premier League but Alexander Isak is one of those.

His performances for Newcastle, which have seen him hit 24 goals in all competitions this season, have been excellent ever since he made the £63 move to England from Spain.

Now, it looks like Newcastle are at least moving to protect one of their biggest assets in what would be a big statement of intent before the summer really gets going.

Isak remaining at St James’ Park is crucial for the club if they are to kick on and push for the top four again.

Losing players who can smash in 20 goals a season is just not what the big clubs do. Isak’s new deal, then, could be huge for the Magpies.
