£86m star responds to claim he wanted to join Man Utd
Harry Kane is set to line up against Manchester United tomorrow night and has responded to claims linking him to the Red Devils throughout the summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Kane would have waited until summer 2024 to sign for United if he was given assurances over a move to Old Trafford, which is a huge revelation ahead of the crucial clash.
Kane will make his Champions League debut for Bayern Munich against United at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night after joining the Bundesliga club from Tottenham in a deal worth up to £100million, an initial £86 million.
Reportedly, Kane had his heart set on a move to the Old Trafford club and would have waited until his contract with Tottenham Hotspur had expired.
Unsurprisingly, the move for the Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund effectively ended any hope Kane had about moving to the Manchester club and he then decided to sign for the German champions.
Kane has been speaking about the other clubs who were interested in him during the summer in Bayern’s pre-match press conference.
“I know there was some talks between a few clubs in the background but Bayern was a team I was really interested in,” Kane said.
“There weren’t many other discussions. My focus is on here. Obviously, United are a great club, but I decided to come here and I’m happy I have.”
United’s defensive struggles have been clear to see throughout this season and have kept just one clean sheet this season and that was on the opening day.
It feels inevitable that Kane scores against the Red Devils tomorrow night and perhaps will show the club what they are missing.
Hojlund, who will surely start the game tomorrow in Munich, will be hoping to make an impact against the German giants.
