The top 50 most valuable football clubs in the world have been ranked, with six Premier League sides in the top 10.

The list compiled by Sportico was based on a review of financial statements, plus conversations with bankers, investors, consultants and team executives.

Sportico calculated revenue streams based on figures published by club accounts, with revenue figures broken down into three categories; broadcast, commercial and matchday.

They have named Manchester United as the most valuable club in the world, ahead of Real Madrid in second and La Liga rivals Barcelona in third.

United are valued at $6.2billion (£4.96bn), with Real Madrid ($6.06bn), Barcelona ($5.28bn), Liverpool ($5.11bn) and Bayern Munich ($4.8bn) completing the top five.

Manchester City ($4.75bn), PSG ($4.05bn), Arsenal ($3.91bn), Tottenham ($3.49bn) and Chelsea ($3.47bn) complete the top 10.

Despite having six of the top 10, and nine clubs in the top 50, the Premier League is not the most represented competition on the list.

That honour goes to the MLS, who have 20 of the top 50 clubs.

However, the Premier League's cumulative valuation of $29bn is almost double that of the 20 MLS clubs ($15.1bn).

La Liga clubs have the third-highest cumulative total at $13bn, but are represented by only three clubs - Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid ($1.56bn).
