Just one month from today West Ham may officially be in the market for a new manager and Thomas Tuchel has been linked.

Speculation over the future of David Moyes at West Ham has intensified this week.

The Scot is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

So after West Ham’s Europa League exit to Bayer Leverkusen, answers will be forthcoming following the season finale away at Manchester City a month today.

The manager looks increasingly likely to depart with Tim Steidten being handed full control of West Ham’s recruitment.

A plethora of potential replacements have been linked. And the owners have reportedly handed responsibility to technical director Steidten to line up West Ham’s next boss.

Names linked include Graham Potter, Gary O’Neil, Michael Carrick, Julen Lopetegui, Marco Silva and Paulo Fonseca.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

But perhaps most intriguing of all the names being linked with the Hammers is departing Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel.

Many have mocked the links to former Chelsea and PSG boss Tuchel as ‘pie in the sky’. The latest of those being pundit Simon Jordan after it was reported on talkSPORT.

Steidten has Tuchel pulling power

But reports from Germany claim Tuchel, who has kept his house in London, very much wants to return to the Premier League.

Journalist Graeme Bailey recently exclusively told Hammers News that people should not underestimate Steidten’s pulling power to lure Tuchel.

Particularly as the pair are close friends.

“In a dream world he’d (Steidten) like Tuchel, who he’s close friends with, and some people would scoff at those types of links but West Ham are a huge club in London, 60,000 fans and they’ve got a squad that would appeal to a lot of people,” Bailey told Hammers News.

“West Ham have got some wonderful world class talent, Lucas Paqueta obviously I don’t think he’ll be with the club after the summer, but with the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez – West Ham don’t need massive, massive surgery to be pushing Champions League.”

Gary Neville also claimed recently that people should not undersell ‘massive’ West Ham and believes the Hammers will attract a top manager if Moyes’ departs.

Links to Tuchel have resurfaced this week hence the outburst from ex Palace owner Jordan – which you can see at the bottom of this story.

Tuchel gives West Ham hope with response on future

It was recently announced the German manager would be leaving Bayern Munich after just one season this summer.

In a bizarre twist, Bayern are said to be considering re-appointing Tuchel’s predecessor Julian Naglesmann – currently managing the German national team – as his replacement.

After Tuchel guided Bayern past Arsenal and into the Champions League semi-finals, though, there have been suggestions of a U-turn which would see him stay on.

That would obviously be bad news for any ambitions West Ham might have of appointing the ex Dortmund boss.

But Tuchel has given West Ham hope with a response to claims of a twist in his future.

No Bayern U-turn for alleged Hammers target

Because he claims there will be no change – he is leaving Bayern and will be a free agent this summer.

“I have an agreement with the club, and it’s communicated, and it stands,” Tuchel told a press conference as reported by Reuters.

“I thought that this was going to be plausible after (director of the national team) Rudi Voeller renewed his contract and I think that Rudi and Julian really are a good team and work well together and support each other well, so I was expecting it.

“Also I believe for the national team this decision is good because it has clarity and stability ahead of the Euros without any discussions.”
