Gabriel Jesus To Start; Leandro Trossard On The Bench: Arsenal’s Predicted XI To Play Bournemouth

All that Arsenal can do is win their remaining matches and hope it’s enough to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.

The Gunners put in an extremely professional performance in the North London derby last weekend, helping to maintain their position at the top of the table.

A home game against Bournemouth may seem like a more straightforward fixture but Andoni Iraola’s side are flying at the moment so this won’t be as easy as some may assume.

Press the next page as we predict Arsenal’s starting lineup for the match at the Emirates on Saturday lunchtime.

Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – David Raya – was poor against Tottenham but the Spaniard is now firmly established as the club’s no.1.

RB – Ben White – maintained his excellent recent standards in the derby and you would expect that form to continue versus the Cherries.

CB – William Saliba – the Frenchman hasn’t been perfect in recent games, with his poor backpass somewhat contributing to Raya’s panicked clearance that led to Spurs’s first goal. However, he continues to do the basics well.

CB – Gabriel – the 26-year-old has managed to stamp out the errors that had crept back into his game in fixtures against Bayern and Aston Villa. He needs to maintain this level for the final few games.

LB – Takehiro Tomiyasu – Manager Mikel Arteta clearly trusts the Japanese international more than either Jakub Kiwior or Oleksandr Zinchenko, and his displays since returning to the starting eleven have justified that faith.

Midfield

CM – Declan Rice – The midfielder will be disappointed with his challenge that gave away the penalty against Tottenham. It wasn’t the sort of performance on Sunday that we have come to expect from Rice.

However, after starring in the last home game versus Chelsea, you would back the England international to respond with another dominating display versus Bournemouth.

CM – Thomas Partey – it’s a testament to the fitness work the Ghanaian did prior to his return to the starting lineup that he has managed to play in two intense derbies in the space of five days, especially when you consider how little game time he had before then.

AM – Martin Odegaard – it was difficult for the captain to really get into the game against Spurs but he is likely to see a lot more of the ball this weekend.

Forward

RW – Bukayo Saka – the forward stood up to the plate and produced the goods in the derby. He had been rather subdued in recent fixtures, but he came back to life with a bang at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Bournemouth played a winger in Dango Ouattara at left-back in their 3-0 win over Brighton and, if Iraola decides to do the same thing again on Sunday, Saka could have a field day.

CF – Kai Havertz – the German now has 13 goals and 6 assists this season. Not bad for a player who was written off after the first few months following his switch from Chelsea. He has made himself the goto no.9 for Arteta. His consistency in front of goal can still be an issue but he offers so much more to the team as well.

LW – Gabriel Jesus – with Gabriel Martinelli clearly struggling and Leandro Trossard seemingly making more of an impact when he is a substitute, Arteta may decide to give the Brazilian a recall this weekend. Jesus has shown that he can play out wide on the left and you can see him giving Bournemouth’s 33-year-old right-back Adam Smith a lot of problems down that side of the pitch.
