Real Madrid Legend’s Son Signs Contract With Club

Real Madrid legend Marcelo's son has signed a new contract with the club.

The left back is currently continuing his career with boyhood outfit Fluminense in hometown Rio de Janeiro, where last season he helped the Tricolor lift its first ever Libertadores trophy.

The South America continental crown joined five others that Marcelo sealed as a Madrid star in the Champions League, and his son Enzo will hope to one day emulate the former Brazilian's achievements.

Though nothing is guaranteed considering the youngster's age and how hard it is to break into the elite, the teenager is at least on the right track.

This week, Enzo, who plays further up the field than his father as a forward, penned a contract extension despite already being secure until 2026.

Currently playing for the Cadete B team, the 14-year-old has been considered as one of the 'La Fabrica' academy's leading pearls since joining it in 2017.

Last season, Enzo was promoted to the Infantil A side and scored a 20-minute hat trick against Atletico Madrid.

With his 105 goals already netted in Los Blancos' youth categories, he has been dubbed a "goal machine" by MARCA.

It is because of this that Madrid has been keen to get Enzo - already a Spain international who has scored two goals in three appearances for La Roja's U-15 team - to put pen to paper.

This development was confirmed by social media posts the player's family made, with Marcelo sharing a series of photos of his son in the act through an Instagram post that has received close to a million and a half likes.

"Congratulations my son for another objective achieved," Marcelo wrote in his caption.

"Happiness, work and responsibility. Shine my love, let's go," he added.

While Enzo continues to progress through the academy at breakneck speed, progressing to the first team in a few years will be far more difficult.

There he could meet competition for minutes from the compatriot likes of Endrick, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. - without even mentioning Kylian Mbappe who is expected to switch to the Spanish capital from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
