Liverpool could be without some first-team players for the clash against Bologna due to injury. The Reds face the Serie A club in their second league phase fixture of the Champions League on Wednesday night at Anfield.

Arne Slot's side picked up a 3-1 win over AC Milan in their first league phase match of the Champions League last month at the San Siro. Liverpool go into the clash against Bologna on the back of a 2-1 win away at Wolves in the Premier League at the weekend - so confidence is high.

Harvey Elliott missed the win over Wolves through injury and is set to remain on the side-lines. Darwin Nunez was also not part of the matchday squad, while concerns emerged after the full-time whistle about Andy Robertson as one or two other problems mount up on Liverpool's treatment table;

Federico Chiesa

Chiesa is not expected to be available to face Bologna on Wednesday night. The Italy international missed training at the start of the week, and Slot explained that he does not expect to have Chiesa part of the matchday squad to face Bologna.

"Federico trained with us yesterday, came in [Tuesday] with some problems," said Slot at his press conference. "I'm not expecting him to be in the team.

Potential return date: Crystal Palace (A) - October 5

Andy Robertson

Robertson emerged as a fitness doubt for Liverpool after being withdrawn during the closing stages of their win over Wolves at the weekend. Robertson took part in open training on Tuesday, though, and he's also expected to be available to face Bologna.

Potential return date: Bologna (H) - October 2

Darwin Nunez

Nunez missed Saturday evening's trip to Molineux through illness and was not part of the matchday squad. The Uruguay international took part in open training on Tuesday, as well, and he's expected to make his return when Bologna head to Anfield.

Potential return date: Bologna (H) - October 2

Diogo Jota

Jota picked up a knock during the win over Wolves on Saturday evening and, subsequently, underwent a scan on his potential foot injury. Slot confirmed, though, that he hopes to have the Portugal international available to face Bologna on Wednesday night.

"Diogo missed out on two sessions after the game against Wolves," said Slot. "He took a knock, but I'm expecting him to be with us and that he's available to play."

Potential return date: Bologna (H) - October 2

Harvey Elliott

Elliott remains sidelined with a fractured foot injury that he suffered during September's international break. Elliott has missed Liverpool's last five matches in all competitions, but is tipped to return next month.

Potential return date: Chelsea (H) - October 20
